One month after the declaration of the state of alarm due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hotel Business Association of Madrid (AEHM) is already working on the reopening of establishments in the region . To do this, it is developing a common protocol for the creation of the ‘COVID Free Hotels’ certificate that guarantees the safety of clients and workers of Madrid hotels.
With the aim of having a common procedure and endorsed by organizations of recognized prestige , the AEHM wants to present said protocol to both public and private institutions, so that the hotels can obtain the ‘COVID free hotels’ certification as soon as they have complied with all the specified requirements.
Although the establishments are already working towards their reopening once the Government allows it, the document in which the Association works will detail the measures that the hotels must take into account in order to resume their normal activities.
This protocol would cover different aspects in order to guarantee the safety of customers from the time they enter the establishment until they leave, as well as that of workers regardless of the area in which they carry out their tasks. Therefore, it would include, in addition to the processes for cleaning rooms and common areas, specific hygienic measures for the rest of the hotel spaces such as kitchens, bar and cafeteria, dining rooms, reception or others.
In the same way, it will contemplate issues related to logistics, from the most essential to the most complex, and will collect all the indications and instructions of the competent health authorities, both from the Ministry of Health and from the Community of Madrid.
Since the beginning of the crisis, we have maintained that the priority of hoteliers has been to ensure the health of citizens. For this reason, and to be ready when the time comes for its doors to be reopened, we are working on a very exhaustive and previously analyzed protocol that guarantees the safety of our clients and our workers.
